Voxarc · MK1 · Studio Condenser

The last microphone
you'll ever buy.

A 34mm gold-sputtered capsule, machined from a single billet of aerospace aluminium. Hand-assembled. Individually calibrated.

01 / TEARDOWN

Five parts. Zero compromise.

Scroll to take the MK1 apart. Every component is machined, measured, and matched in-house.

02 / CAPSULE

34mm gold-sputtered capsule

A hand-tensioned 3-micron diaphragm, gold-sputtered for a fast, airy top end with no harshness.

03 / GRILLE

CNC brass grille

A triple-layer mesh that tames internal reflections and softens plosives before they reach the capsule.

04 / BODY

Single-billet aluminium

Cut from one block. No seams, minimal resonance, and a low noise floor under gain.

05 / TRANSFORMER

Transformer-balanced output

A custom-wound output transformer adding weight in the low-mids and a smooth midrange.

The teardown

Five parts. Zero compromise.

The MK1 comes apart into five matched components, each machined, measured, and calibrated in-house.

01 / CAPSULE

34mm gold-sputtered capsule

Hand-tensioned 3-micron diaphragm. Fast, airy top end with an even, un-hyped character.

02 / GRILLE

CNC brass grille

Triple-layer mesh; tames internal reflections and softens plosives before the capsule.

03 / BODY

Single-billet aluminium

One block, no seams, low resonance and a low noise floor under gain.

04 / TRANSFORMER

Transformer-balanced output

Custom-wound; weight in the low-mids, an effortless midrange.

05 / SHOCKMOUNT

Internal shockmount

An internal decoupling ring isolates the capsule from handling and stand-borne rumble.

Why it sounds the way it does

Engineered to disappear.

A microphone should stay out of the way. The MK1 aims to capture a voice close to how the room actually heard it.

20Hz

Full-spectrum

Roughly 20Hz–20kHz. Extended lows and a present, un-hyped air band.

7µV

Whisper-quiet

Self-noise around 7µV (A-weighted) — the room, not the mic, sets the floor.

±0.5dB

Matched for life

Every MK1 is individually calibrated and serialised. Buy a pair and they stay closely matched.

20Hz 1kHz 20kHz
Frequency response — representative curve, ~±1dB. Not a per-unit measurement.
Cardioid — rejects the room behind the capsule.

Machined, not assembled.

It starts as a 2.4kg billet of aerospace aluminium and ends as a 380g instrument. Forty-one operations. One serial number.

01

Cut

The body is milled from one block — no welds, no resonant seams, low resonance up to 140dB SPL.

Single-billet 6061
02

Tune

The capsule is hand-tensioned and aged for 72 hours before it ever sees a signal.

3-micron diaphragm
03

Calibrate

Measured against a laboratory reference, trimmed to ±0.5dB, and serialised for life.

±0.5dB reference

Where it earns its place.

Vocal booth

Lead vocals

The fast top end sits a voice forward with very little sibilance or edge.

Live room

Acoustic + strings

Transformer weight and a quiet floor capture the body of an instrument intact.
